Artist Statement
“Painting allows me to feel serenity and to heal my soul. My goal is to bring that serenity and emotion to my paintings.”
Using oil on canvas my paintings are inspired by nature and my emotions. I stand in awe at the edge of the ocean and its ability to continually change our shores to meet its own needs. I am amazed at a tree whose roots are so strong, nothing can knock it down. These gifts from nature inspire me to change with my world and know my roots are strong enough to withstand life’s winds of change. Nature allows me to look longer, feel more, and breathe in the sun.
I have never tied myself down to one technique. Art for me is about expression, the freedom to explore new colors and techniques without the concern for the norm. I tackle every piece of my art by what “feels right”. I feel each painting requires its own unique approach to obtain its own personality.
Life has many ups and downs and painting allows me to express these emotions through oil and brush.
